Create a routine

Establish a bedtime and around 30 minutes beforehand you want to turn the noise down. You also want to dim the lights. Doing this will help establish your kid’s internal clock, and it will make it easier to put him to sleep, which is something to keep in mind.

Avoid feeding your baby to sleep

Some parents feed their child to sleep, which is not exactly ok. This shows your kid that he always has to sleep after eating, which can become a problem in the long run. There might still be a need for night time feeding though, depending on the situation.

Stick to an early bed time

Yes, you do want to have an early bed time, because not only is it efficient, it conveys great results and the benefits can indeed be second to none. It’s a clever approach and it will surely offer the benefits you need. While there, try to eliminate snacking gradually, because it helps more than you might expect.

Skipping naps is not a great idea

You may think that skipping a nap will make your kid sleep more during the night. That’s not the case, since regular naps are actually very important for babies. You do want to ensure that you set a napping schedule and guidelines, as it can be very efficient.

At the end of the day, getting your baby to sleep does require some trial and error. But it’s a process, so you can expect it to take a while. Yet it’s always worth it, so you just have to follow these rules and guidelines, and you will appreciate the results quite a bit!

Keeping the routine is a must. I’ve learned it hard way – wanted to do everything on my own, ending up crying at night (me, not the baby…). In the end my partner purchased the Guide In a Nutshell about sleep training babies (here: https://www.parental-love.com/shop/baby-sleep-training ) and it saved our nights and sanity I guess. It’s short, simple, and – most important – it is working fast! Best idea ever. And of course everything starts with… a routine itself!
